Objectifs

Introduce students to the tourism industry

Understand the global environment in which the tourism industry evolves

Understand the general tourism dynamics across the globe in the 2&st century

Pré-requis

A good knowledge of international geopolitics and history.

Plan du cours

This lecture aims to provide students with the basic knowledge that they need to understand the nature, structure and evolution of the tourism industry across the world.

Students will be given the key definitions of tourism indicators that are necessary to understand tourism data. The more global approach of the tourism system will then be developed, giving students a clear understanding of the whole structure of the tourism industry.

International tourism dynamics will then be addressed by undertaking a world tour looking at the characteristics and devolution of tourism in different parts of the world (Europe, Americas, Africa, Asia et Oceania).

The lecture will finally review the main tourism impacts: sociological, economical and environmental.
